Official photos

In case you haven't noticed, every month, my mom has embroidered Olivia a shirt with her name on it and how old she is. Well, for Livie's six month pictures, she was wearing her little diva shirt because I didn't get her embroidered shirt until the day after I took her photos. So, here she is....Miss America Olivia and her official six month photos. Thanks mom for the adorable shirts. They are precious to me and I picture you in your sewing room making them for one of your precious grandbabies. Sorry I didn't get a better close up of her shirt...all the ones I took were blurry. Will try again next time she wears it which was yesterday so it may be a few days...I'll have to wash the babyfood off of it!

For the grandparents

I don't have a whole lot to write about. It's been an uneventful past few days. We've been spending a lot of time outside on account of the wonderful weather. So glad to have a break from the cold temps and inches of snow. We are getting all geared up for Easter. I can't wait to get the Easter clothes my mom made for the kids! We are having an Easter egg hunt Sunday afteroon after Theo gets off work, weather permitting. So I went to Dollar Tree today to rack up on Easter eggs and candy. Afterwards, we hit Target which actually had eggs cheaper than Dollar Tree! We spent some time this afternoon flying a kite. Next time I'll try and get some pics. It made me feel like a kid again.

Olivia is doing well, albeit a little cranky because she is teething majorly! I can see her two bottom teeth but can't feel them quite yet. Poor thing, she is pretty miserable. Thankfully we have some Motrin. She has been waking up so much at night the past couple of weeks too. I feel like I have a newborn again. I'm hoping this will pass. Just when I though I saw a light at the end of the sleep deprivation tunnel....oh well! It's worth it.

I think this picture is hilarious! It looks like he is about to stab her with the banana.

"But Livie, I thought you didn't like bananas!"

Picnic in the park yard

One thing I have learned this winter, when it's 60-70 degrees outside, be prepared...the snow is coming! Monday was a beautiful day outside. Theo was off and for lunch, we had an impromptu picnic outside. Olivia just lounged in her swing and Carter enjoyed playing on his swingset. We stayed outside for quite a while enjoying the warm temperatures and gorgeous sunshine.

And then Tuesday night was this:

Fortunately, today it's supposed to be in the 40s. I was sick with a stomach bug yesterday and am eager to get out of this house. Plus, Carter really needs to get outside and burn off some energy. I mean really!

Tomorrow, if the weather is nice and all are healthy, we might meet Aunt Meredith and her boys for lunch. I really need to go to the outlet mall and get the kids some summer clothes. I am ready for some warm weather!

Meet Ms. Margo

This is Margo. She is a dear friend of mine and former co-worker. She is such a joy to be around because of her love for Christ. We were able to meet her for lunch at El Chico's one day and it was great food and even greater company. She is such an inspiration to me!

Sunny Days

The last Sunday we were in Louisiana was a perfectly gorgeous day. Uncle Dave came out to my parents house to spend some time with Carter and Olivia before we headed back to Colorado. The cousins were also there and Carter really had fun playing with Bradley and Leslie. I wish every Sunday could be like that.

Instrument Park

If only I had discovered this park sooner before moving away from Louisiana....

Aunt Laney

We were lucky enough to hang out with Aunt Laney some while we were there. I was so glad the rest of Olivia's family (on my side) got to meet her. Aunt Laney came with us to the "Instrument Park" and she's already beaten me to the punch by posting great pictures from our day on her blog. Olivia and Carter both enjoy the amazing things that Aunt Laney has sewed for them.

Hanging out with Grandpa

I know I am a little late in getting to posting more pictures from our trip to Louisiana. I'm sorry. I don't really have an excuse other than we have been pretty busy on account of some nice weather and I am trying to stay off the computer more (only because I get sucked into the vortex of the world wide web and can easily spend an hour or two surfing the net while my kids want some attention. But I digress...)

While we were in LA, my dad was able to drive up which was great and we had lunch with him at Chick-fil-a one Saturday afternoon. I wish we could have spent more time with him but hopefully if we drive to LA over the summer, we can make a trip down south. I know Carter would love to get back in grandpa's swimming pool!

Every Girls Dream

Today, I took Olivia in for her six month check-up. Over the past month, I have been obsessing over concerned about her weight. She is still nursing well, happy in between feeds, enough wet/dirty diapers, etc etc. But I could tell she was starting to slim down. So when we weighed her today, my thoughts were right. She has only gained one pound in two months. She's at the 10 percentile for weight. But...she is a whopping 27.5 inches long, which is at the 96 percentile for height! I guess she is going to be tall and thin...every girls dream! She sure didn't get that from me :) Dr. Lisa isn't concerned about her weight since Olivia still has fat rolls and doesn't like skinny by any means. I am thankful I won't have to start her on formula (which was my fear). I really want to nurse her for a year without giving her anything else. But if I have to, I will. I just don't have to right now! Once she gets a better hang of eating baby food, I think she'll chunk back up a little.

Six months old!

Half of Olivia's first year is already gone.....but oh what a great first half it was! I am looking forward to her next six months and all of the things she'll grow to do. She is such a sweet baby. I remember this being such a great age with Carter too. She is content to lay on a blanket on the floor and watch Carter play. She loves when I sing to her and when Carter tickles her. At six months she also:

-weighs about 14 pounds as best as I can guess (her weight gain has slowed down but she is healthy and is meeting her milestones so I'm trying not to worry about it. Her six month check-up is Monday)

-has been sleeping 12 hour stretches at night this past week! Woohooooooo!!

-nurses about 5 times a day and only nurses for about 10-15 minutes total. She is becoming pretty efficient and just likes to get the job done!

-can roll over both ways but hasn't done it too often

-babbles all the time and says things like dadadadada, something that resembles papaw :), and buhbuhbuh, and I promised yesterday, it sounded like she said I love you (Ah yuh yew)!

-takes two naps a day and is on a schedule for the most part when we aren't running around like crazy doing stuff

-can sit alone for a couple of seconds at a time

-has not had a pacifier in forever since she prefers to suck on her fingers, or anyone else's fingers for that matter

-has had her first airplane ride and did amazing!

-has tried oatmeal baby cereal, bananas, banana mango, and sweet potato. I think the oatmeal is her favorite so far.

-laughs loudly, especially at Carter

-does really well in church despite the concert-loud music

-still has a headful of gorgeous curly brown blonde hair and beautiful blue eyes

-loves seeing her daddy's face when he comes home from work

Olivia, Daddy and I love you more and more everyday. You are truly a joy and bring so much happiness into our lives. We can't get enough of you!

Great grandmother

Olivia finally got to meet her great grandmother while we were in Louisiana. Olivia has been enjoying the fruits of grandmother's labor though because we have an abundance of handmade blankets and quilts that grandmother has made. I often spread one out on the living room floor and Olivia likes to lay on it while she plays. And Carter and I thoroughly enjoyed the two loaves of banana bread grandmother brought us while we were there.
